Ronald Santasiero M.D., DABMA
Dr. Santasiero is Board Certified in Family Practice and Acupuncture, and a Medical Orthopedist. He graduated from the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1975. In 1978 he completed his Family Medicine Residency at Buffalo's Deaconess Hospital and practiced Family Medicine for over 15 years as Health Care Plan's first doctor, where he was also Associate Medical Director.
In 1990 he re-trained in the fields of Pain Management, Acupuncture, and musculo-skeletal problems and is a leading expert in chronic pain. Dr. Santasiero's rigorous Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine training is through UCLA, as well as the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada, at the University of Toronto. He was among the first 100 physicians in the United States to be Board Certified in acupuncture by the American Board of Medical Acupuncture. His training in mind/body medicine was with well known experts and authors Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., and Herbert Benson, M.D. at Harvard University. Dr. Santasiero is certified in Herbal medicine, and is an expert in Nutritional therapy. He is also certified in “Cyriax,”, a specific method of joint injection therapy developed in Great Britain.
Dr Santasiero is a Clinical Assistant professor of Family Medicine at the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine, where he lectures Alternative Medicine and Acupuncture. He is also Clinical Professor and Medical Director of the D’Youville College Physician Assistant program, where he teaches Physical Diagnosis and nutrition at the Master’s level.
A popular International and local lecturer and speaker, he is the recipient of numerous awards in medicine and teaching. Also to his credit are published articles, as well as many appearances on radio and television. He serves on the Advisory Boards of several local clinics and health related teaching programs.
In 1995 Dr. Ron Santasiero and his wife Cherie Santasiero, Ph.D., Rh.D, Mh.D., founded Sedona Holistic Medical Centre in Hamburg, the first successful holistic medical center in Western New York with a Board Certified Physician. At Sedona Holistic Centre, traditional western medicine is combined with acupuncture, herbs, supplements, nutritional therapy, holistic psychotherapy and meditation, in treating patients, including professionals in Football and Soccer. Hypnosis, relaxation therapies, spiritual counseling, Ro-Hun Psychotherapy, Therapeutic Touch, Massage, yoga and Spiritual Energy work, including Reiki and Spiritual Healing, are also utilized. Sedona offers Chelation therapy, and heavy metal toxicity treatments. The Chelation therapy is used under the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) guidelines and protocol.
Both doctors work with addiction with a focus on young people and are experienced in the use of Buprenorphine, also known as Suboxone.
Dr. Santasiero is a member of the American College for Advancement in Medicine American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.
